The 2008 / 2009 training season is now over. We would expect to start up again in the first week of September, but this date needs to be confirmed on this web site.

 

Welcome to the Devonport Dragons Junior Hockey Club website.

The 2008-2009 season has now finished. And what a great season it was! We had our highest attendences and best results in the leagues. We put forward the most teams and had the largest number of coaches. Sponsorship from the two seniors parent clubs PGSOB club and Mannamead Ladies allowed the Junior club to update and provide more goal keeping equipment, along with being able to assist both Stoke Damerel Community college and Devonport High School for Boys.

We had a great end of season awards meal, with many awards given out to the players and many thank yous to all those volunteers that support the club.

And recently we have announced the new name of the Club the Devonport Dragons Junior Hockey Club, which will no doubt be shortened to the 'Devonport Dragons'. A new motif will soon be unveiled, and this will be included on next seasons playing shirts and coaching clothing for the 2009 - 2010 season.

When this is all in place we will create the new poster and brochure for the club. We are leaving last years poster here until the replacement is finished as most of the details are correct except the dates!

And the web site will be re launched, and will be www.ddjhc.org.uk (but the old web address will still work).

 

Devonport Juniors hockey club Annual General Meeting - have your say!

On Monday 6th July at the Stonehouse Creek Social Club, the hocky club will be holding it's annual general meeting, where the appointments, plans and key decsions fo rthe following year will be taken.

If you would like your say, please come along at 7pm.

 

Help Needed - Primary centre of Excellence festival on the 11th of July

The PHDG is looking for any volunteers, particularly young players/leaders to help out at our Primary centre of Excellence festival on the 11th of July.
Duties will include umpiring, coaching, general running of the festival and looking after a small team of year 5 and 6 players for the day.

If you know of anyone who may be interested could you please pass them my contact details (below) or could you let me know they are interested.

I feel it would be good to have a repetitive from each club there to help promote your club and get to know the potential new club members, if you know of anyone who might like to do this from your club let me know.

England Hockey Followers Membership

For those who want to receive additional information, discounts and memorabilia from the heart of England Hockey, a new hockey "followers" membership scheme has been launched. This is not part of the DJHC, but if you do wish to join up please quote our club id '1923' as the club is given a £50 Barrington Sports voucher for hockey kit for every 10 people it signs up.

Promoting Hockey

We have been actively involved in the local schools in supporting the Plymouth Hockey Development Group's "Hooked on Hockey" campaign, providing loan equipment to two of these schools to ensure the enjoyment and safety for the school team players.

14/4/2008 - Tidied the dates. Added the Junior Leadership. Added the Hockey camps and a couple of other dates.
24/3/2008 - Quick reminder of Hooked On Hockey next week. Also added a couple of quick maps for access to Stonehouse Barracks for the U14boys freindly.
14/3/2008 - update cancellation of tournament and threfore the return of the training day. Added date for final Hooked on hockey academy. Added U18 vs U16 and U16 vs U14 'friendly' matches
2/2/2008 - various updates on the front page and a correction to the dates for the girls tournament. New DJHC Jan - April 2008 guide and full (all clubs) League handbook downloads added to site. Still woefully behind on the results pages having had a couple of difficulties getting in the results!
2/1/2008 - updated dates with draft U14/U12&U10 league dates. Still to finalise scores from last boys games and therefore not updated the final scores.
